um i got a question on pinch harmonics i only use my bridge pickup? i tried with both but dont really work,, i thought people played like that using both pickups ,, i dont know,? also what size pick you got, i have fender medium right now but i like metal, and also slow melodic music but its too sloppy for hard playing , i jus thought mabe a thicker pick would help,

Pickup doesn’t really matter but the best ones usually come from the bridge pickup – in my case it’s a humbucker.
I like a thick pick – at least medium to heavy is good. I can’t use a thin pick.
It takes time to get the harmonics properly and consistently – hang in there. Make sure you’re picking at a place where a harmonic exists.

Do you need a high gain level to get good harmonics?

That helps to get some good tones and make them stand out more.

    i have a question too…
well i get the technique and i understand it..
i pick the string and it comes out a harmonic
BUT how do i get this “WAU WAU” i mean this tone difference ..
i get only a little difference .. but your harmonics (like killswitch) have a high tone difference…
do you bend so hard ??
i hope you understand my question..

    thanks dennis

whenever you touch the string with your thumb you say to push the string towards the guitar wich would be harder than just picking so my quiestion is do you actually push the string with your thumb too or just lightly touch it.

dennis – I think you’re referring to the bending of the string that I do – it’s called vibrato and you do it after you play the harmonic. If you don’t know how to do vibrato on the guitar try to do a google search for it, but you bend the string up and down.
Eddie-You push on the string a bit just to pick the note, but the thumb just lightly touches the string (it doesn’t push down on the string).
