I’ve been using the Amazing Slow Downer for slowing down music and transcribing solos. It has a huge range down to 20% of the original (many just go to half speed). You can also change the pitch which I used for some sax transcriptions.
But nowadays, you might find some cool video of someone you want to transcribe. I noticed with the latest version of Real Player (which I didn’t use much) it puts a little ‘Download this video’ icon about the video. I don’t condone stealing copyrighted content, but it’s useful for transcribing. Here’s what I did:
Download the video to your local machine using the Real Player plugin in Firefox. Then use the free FLV extract program, where you drag the file onto the small window and it will create an mp3 of the video for you!
